I have been a potter since 2002. I create one of a kind pieces using stoneware clay, fire in an electric kiln, and occasionally fire using the ancient processes of raku and saggar firing.
My main focus is on functional pieces which are meant to be used every day. When given extra time to access my creativity, I may come up with playful sculptural pieces or detailed art pieces.
My inspiration comes from my background in textiles and needlework, as well as gardening, traveling, and exploring the outdoors.
I will often create pieces using found objects to create texture. My incised pieces may include flowers that mimic the lazy daisy stitch of embroidery, representations of coral reefs, or snapshots of architectural details.
I create my work at my home studios in Massachusetts and Vermont.
I have begun offering private instruction at my home studio.
On occasion I get the opportunity to teach pottery to young children at New Arts Sharon in Sharon, MA.
It is a pure joy to share my love of clay.
